What is Reiki?
The energy we cannot see, but we can feel.
Reiki is a Japanese energy practice based on the idea of a universal life-force energy — the energy that flows through us and surrounds all living things.
Different traditions have given this life energy different names: Ki in Japan, Qi (Chi) in Chinese traditions and Prana in Indian philosophy. The language may be different, but the idea is similar — that there is more to our wellbeing than what we can physically see or touch.
We experience energy every day. We feel when we are vibrant and open, when we are drained, when a space feels peaceful, or when simply being near someone changes how we feel. Reiki invites us to become more aware of this subtle part of ourselves.
During a Reiki session, you simply rest while gentle hands-on or hands-above-body techniques are used within the Reiki tradition. There is nothing you need to do, understand or believe. The intention is simply to create space for stillness, relaxation and a greater sense of inner balance.
We cannot always see energy — but we can learn to feel, respect and nurture it.
